Anonymous asked:
i don't agree with you when you say "she's 130 lbs, not anorexic". anorexia is CHARACTERIZED by low weight, but that isn't the definition. anorexia is a MINDSET. and it's unfortunate that that girl has that mindset (i looked at her blog a bit and she does seem to still be anorexic, though of course i can't be sure). but the advice you provided her was good advice. i'm not trying to attack you, i just want to clarify a common mistake in identifying anorexia.

Yes. If you’ll read my very last post, you’ll see that I know what an eating disorder is since I’m in outpatient early intervention for one. And this is what they call it. It’s not really called ‘anorexia’ until they’re considered in danger. Which is wrong because it’s a disorder, which by definition means that it’s out of order or incorrect.

When I said ‘she’s not anorexic’, I meant it in the way that people were telling her she shouldn’t be losing anymore weight and making out like she would die if she lost ten pounds. And as I’ve said now twice, I think there’s no harm in losing weight as long as you do it properly.

You really didn’t need to be anon, I could have answered you privately. Thank you for your input.
